Smoky Mountain Christian Camp

Bill and Debbie Clark
Coker Creek, Tennessee

The Smoky Mountain Christian Camp began in 1947 and was organized by ministers of Christian Churches in the Knoxville area.  Weeks of Christian camping were provided for young people of junior, intermediate and senior ages each summer on the campus of Johnson Bible College until 1975.  In 1975 the Smoky Mountain Men's Fellowship bought camp Whit Bow in Coker Creek, TN. as a permanent site for the camp.  In 1976 the camp became its own governing body and was called the Smoky Mountain Christian Camp, Inc.

The camp was originally made up of 40 acres of land that includes a seven acre lake and recently additional acreage was purchased to allow for expansion, most notably the wilderness camps. There are also full recreational facilities: softball, tennis, volleyball, swimming and canoeing. Two new wells are being dug this year. An addition is being added to the dining hall and the restrooms are being renovated. The camp is governed by a Board of Church Representatives made up of members of the supporting churches.  Bill Clark is the current Camp Manager, Billy Clark is the Asst. Manager. The summer camp program covers youth from grades 3 through college age and the camp is available for retreats and other scheduled events.  Coker Creek is located south of Tellico Plains on highway 68, just a few miles north of the North Carolina border.
