"The Circle 'G' Ranch" VBS 2005
Kickoff—Saturday, July 16th, 6:00-8:00p.m.
Friday, July 22nd, 6:00-8:00p.m.
Saturday, July 23rd, 12:00-3:00p.m.
Sunday, July 24th, 12:00-3:00p.m.
Howdy Partners! It is here! Finally, it is almost time for VBS! This year we're gonna meet together at the "Circle 'G' Ranch". Can you guess what the "G" stands for? If you said "God", then you are right. The "Circle 'G' Ranch" is where God is at the center of everything and love never ends.
We're gonna have so much fun this year starting with our first-ever VBS Kickoff. This is going to be a fun day on the ranch for the whole family. We are going to have food, games, crafts, and a live petting zoo from Twin Cedar Farms. You don’t have to be a kid to come and enjoy this awesome church event. The more the merrier! Every church family should bring a dessert to share so that there is plenty of good food for the whole community. The Kickoff starts at 6:00p.m., so don’t miss a minute of it!
VBS will start the following weekend, on Friday night, July 22nd, at 6:00p.m. Saturday and Sunday VBS is from 12:00 to 3:00p.m. Everyday we will visit the Craft Corral, the Chuck Wagon, the Open Range Recreation and more! And, of course, you won’t want to miss the new "Open Door Adventure" we will have everyday! On Saturday and Sunday you will be served lunch at the Chuck Wagon, and mmmmm....those vittles will be good. Sunday morning from 9:30-11:30 we will have some breakfast together and continue with our VBS "Open Door Adventure" during Journey. Man, it just keeps gettin' better and better!
On July 4th we will be walking in the Farragut Fourth of July Parade passing out candy and flyers to promote VBS to the community. If you would like to walk in the parade or donate some candy, there is still time. Just call the church office and let us know. There is always room for one more Ranch Hand!
To all our faithful VBS Ranch Hands (volunteers): We will have a get-together on Friday night, July 15th, at 7:00p.m. to tie up all the loose ends on the ranch and finish getting ready for our Kickoff, so mark your calendar. This will be a short meeting and then we will finish setting up for the Kickoff.
If you haven’t already, start praying for this year’s VBS. Pray that God’s kids from the whole community will come and learn more about how much God truly does love them. Pray also for our goals: (1)that we would have 75 kids; (2) that 3 new families will join our church; (3) that we would have an awesome Kickoff for the whole community
YeeHaw! I am so excited! God is good!
"Start Spreading the News!"
Hello Family,
For those of you who don’t already know, the youth group is heading to New York City, New York the last week of July for our mission trip. So far, our journey on this mission trip has been a crazy ride and we haven't even loaded a van yet! We have had to be patient and very flexible, which is not
always an easy task, and that is why the theme verse for this trip: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for His own ends." Proverbs 16:3-4.
Already the Lord has taught us to rely on and trust in Him. We are so excited to see what God will work out for "His own ends" once we allow Him to use our hands and our feet in a city that desperately needs Him.
Sure you have all heard of the "Big Apple", but did you know that New York City is the largest city, by population, in the United states and is the center of international finance, politics, communications, music, fashion, and culture? It has a population of over 8 million people contained within 309 square miles. The city includes large populations of immigrants from over 180 countries who help make it one of the most cosmopolitan places on earth. "Cosmopolitan" is the perfect word because that is the exact word that commentators use to describe Corinth and New York City always makes me think of
Corinth. New York is certainly a city full of energy and great people doing great things. However, just like Corinth, New York City seems to be dominated by people who are striving to fulfill their own desires and wants.
Our team will be going to New York to lead a VBS and several small service projects. Although we cannot change the city, we do hope to impact the lives that we encounter with the message of Jesus. Please help us by praying for our trip and those who are going:

Making a Change with Your Change
MSN ran a report this month that stated Tennessee ranked 32nd in average total debt. The article said that the average person in Tennessee carries $10,346 in debt. It went on to break down this number and say that those who were 20-29 had $14,330; 30-39 had $17,650; and 40-49 had $18,754 in debt. I guess when I look at those numbers, the optimistic side of me says, maybe we are training our children better to not go into debt. But the realistic side of me knows that the reason that the 40-49 year olds are in more debt is because we don’t pay our debts off and they keep building.
Now, why tell you all this? Jesus knew that money would keep you from giving your heart to Him. At least 16 of his 38 parables deal with how we handle money and possessions. In the Gospels about 1 out of every 10 verses (288 in all) deal directly with the subject of money. If Jesus spent so much time talking about it, we need to speak about it. It might not be that greed is keeping you from God, but because of debt or mishandling of your money, you just don’t have the time or ability to fully devote your life to Christ.
This month we are going to talk about how we handle money. The series is titled, "Making a Change with Your Change."

Prom of the Stars
November 12, 2005
It's time to prepare for this annual event for the physically and/or mentally handicapped. Prom of the Stars not only benefits those in the Knoxville area, but each year expands to other areas in East Tennessee.
There will be a meeting on July 10th following "Hot Summer Nights" for all those interested in this year's prom and to set up the various committees needed to make this event an even greater success than in previous years. Contact Jim Riner or the church office for more information or check out our website: www.promofthestars.com
What Are We Doing with the Parsonage?
Have you asked that question recently? I have heard it asked several times, so let me take some time and explain what our intentions are and how you can help.
As we discussed a few months ago, we plan on hiring a full-time worship minister this fall. Our intentions are to make the parsonage part of the package that we use to bring this person on board.
In order to do that, some work needs to be done. On July 30th we are going to work on the parsonage. We need your help in a few areas. We plan to replace some fascia boards, pressure wash the stucco, change a shower head, pull weeds, and a few other odds and ends. Be looking for an exhaustive list of projects on the bulletin board and a sign up sheet later in July.
Hot Summer Nights Continue
We will finish up our "Hot Summer Nights" series in July. We will bring our 'Family Wish List' to an end on July 10th with
"I wish my in-laws would..."
This will be followed by a two-part series on Sex by the Book. Shannon & I will be talking on What Your Spouse Wants You to Figure Out on July 17th and conclude with What God Wants You to Know on the 31st. I hope you plan on being at these events.

Library News
Frank Peretti’s newest novel, Monster, challenges us as Christians to consider what is true and ethical in the realm of science.
Reed Shelton had a well organized survival weekend planned for he and his wife, Beck. But during their first night of camping, a terrifying wail pierces the darkness. A struggle, fighting, falling, pain. The last thing Reed remembers is his wife being carried by a creature into the darkness. Is his wife dead or alive? Friends and townspeople begin searching for Beck, but soon the hunters become the hunted. The ending of the book will surprise you.
Come visit the library! Check out all the new books and maybe even some old ones! There are books for children, youth, teens, adult fiction, Christian living and devotionals.
Remember, Cedar Spring Stores give FCC a discount of 10% of the total sales receipts towards the purchase of new books. Please give your receipts to Dena Cunningham or leave them in the church office.
